John Kastrinos is a lead hydrogeologist and principal at Haley & Aldrich, Inc. John applies his expertise in fractured-rock hydrogeology to help institutional clients and developers decarbonize through ground-source heat exchange (geothermal). John works closely with contractors and design teams to develop geothermal borefield designs considering practical exchanger depth limitations, depth to rock, and water management, always considering the implications on design and construction schedule. He provides valuable insights to clients throughout the design and construction process, starting with high-level feasibility studies for individual buildings and geothermal districts, through planning and implementation of pilot testing and associated permitting, borefield modeling and design development, and system installation and testing. John is a registered Professional Geologist, Hydrogeologist, and Licensed Site Professional (LSP).

Grounded Founder and CEO Sam Shapiro is a technologist and entrepreneur who is leading the charge to an electric future for mobile operations and outdoor recreation. Dave has over 20 years of experience designing geothermal systems. He has designed thousands of tons of geothermal capacity in NY, New England, and the U.S. He was responsible for designing geothermal well systems on NYC landmark projects such as St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Cornell Tech Bloomberg Roosevelt Island, and the landmarked Beresford Building. Dave has been very active in local and State decarbonization thinktanks and stakeholder groups. At Brightcore, Dave leads the geothermal division and is focusing on technological innovation and technology transfer from international markets.

Amy is a registered architect and director at studioDSK, with a focus on high-performance design in learning environments, custom residences, and water-focused infrastructure. Amy leads studioDSK’s commitment to AIA2030 and the AIA A&D Materials Pledge. She led the development of the Green Island Initiative for Moskito Island in the British Virgin Islands, has managed several California-based master planning initiatives, managed the design of Human Needs Project’s green technology micro infrastructure project, Kibera Town Centre, in Nairobi, Kenya, has managed the design of several water infrastructure projects, and was an integral part of the award- winning renovation of art studios at Marymount Manhattan College. Amy also serves as a peer review architect in Massachusetts. Upon graduation from Harvard GSD, Amy was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi Medal. John Peterson

John Peterson is a vice President and Technical Director for WSP USA and has 40 years of experience. Based in Portland Maine, he provides program and project management support to various federal, state, industrial, and commercial clients. Projects span environmental, infrastructure, and energy/geothermal markets. Over the last 15 years he has supported various geothermal projects from concepting and feasibility studies through design-bid-build and design-build delivery. Over this time, he has gained a great appreciation for the role of geothermal in energy efficiency and the renewable energy market as well as the challenges and advancements made. John is also one of the geothermal practice area network leaders in WSP which collaborates with the national and international geothermal community within WSP. WSP has over 72,000 professionals and over 500 offices worldwide and we cover the full geothermal spectrum from heating and cooling through power generation utilizing multiple geothermal resources.

Stacy earned her Certificate in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy from the Center for Business and the Environment at Yale in 2022, redirecting her skills toward a healthy planet. Stacy has over 30 years of experience in program management and organizational design and holds a degree in History and English from Dartmouth College. Her track record of mission-focused delivery ranges from multinational programs with companies like Publicis Sapient, Vistaprint, and Anaqua, to local community engagement campaigns. Since 2023, Dr. Pontrelli has worked for McPhail Associates on a variety of geothermal and geotechnical projects. His responsibilities as a geothermal project manager have included preliminary feasibility studies, geothermal wellfield design and geologic modeling, test well installation and thermal conductivity testing oversight and data processing, and construction monitoring of wellfield installation and testing for projects that have utilized conventional closed-loop U-bends or quad-loops and propriety systems like Rygan heat exchangers. He has led geothermal assessment and design projects at over 80 sites across North America, with emphasis on Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) and Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES) applications.

Roger Skillings

Roger Skillings is the President of Skillings & Sons and a recognized expert in water well drilling and geothermal exchange systems. With a career spanning decades, he has drilled over 18,000 water wells and played a key role in the design and implementation of more than 850 geothermal systems. Under his leadership, Skillings & Sons has grown into a leading name in the water and geothermal industries. Roger holds well driller licenses in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, and maintains several professional certifications, including National Ground Water CWD/PI, Geothermal Installer, Plastic Pipe Fusion Installer, and Hoisting Engineer. A passionate advocate for sustainable water solutions, Roger has served on the boards of both the New Hampshire Water Well Association and the Massachusetts Water Well Association. Jill Rowe

Jill Rowe is a Principal and Group Manager of Epsilon’s Offshore/Coastal practice. An experienced ocean science director and offshore wind lead, Mrs. Rowe has over 24 years of experience specializing in environmental permitting and scientific analyses for offshore wind energy development, oil and gas development, coastal and marine projects, and dredging activities. Her subject matter expertise includes National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) support; modeling the fate and exposure of biota to oil and other chemical releases; and developing fish, benthic, and Essential Fish Habitat analyses. Ms. Rowe has been involved with the US offshore wind market since 2011 working on comprehensive offshore wind studies for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM); helping to file the Vineyard Wind 1 Construction and Operations Plan (COP) with BOEM in December 2017; and subsequently working with the Epsilon team to prepare and file six additional COPs for Lease Areas. Ms. Rowe has managed and assisted on numerous major projects serving as the group leader for fishery scientists, ecologists, physical and chemical oceanographers, and ocean engineers. Her responsibilities included managing workload, conducting annual reviews, and communicating management decisions. Mrs. Rowe’s experience includes facilitating and leading technical working groups and expert committees for both the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Relative Environmental Sensitivity Analysis.

Dugan Becker

As former Community Liaison Officer at SouthCoast Wind, Dugan Becker helps lead the project's community engagement and economic development initiatives across Southern New England. In this role, Dugan builds and nurtures relationships with a wide array of public and private stakeholders, ensuring that local populations are informed, involved, and empowered to participate in and benefit from the region's growing offshore wind industry. His work focuses on fostering inclusive dialogue and creating opportunities for economic growth, with a strong emphasis on community-driven outcomes. Prior to joining SouthCoast Wind in 2021, Dugan spent several years supporting the MA Department of Energy Resources' Green Communities Program, providing direct municipal assistance enabling nearly 280 towns to establish, track, and progress towards their clean energy and emissions reduction goals. Dugan holds a BS in Natural Resource Conservation and an MS in Sustainability Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he was among the first graduates to receive a Professional Certification in Offshore Wind Energy.

Patrick Crowley

Patrick Crowley is the President of the Rhode Island AFL-CIO. He is a union organizer with over 25 years of service to the labor movement. During that time he has worked for the Teamsters, SEIU, and NEA Rhode Island. Named one of the most influential Rhode Islanders by The Providence Business News, Pat holds masters degrees in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and History from the University of Rhode Island. In 2021, Pat helped found Climate Jobs Rhode Island, a broad and growing coalition of labor, environmental, and community partners committed to a just transition to an equitable, pro-worker, pro-climate green economy. He also serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Institute for Labor Studies and Research the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA), and the Museum of Work and Culture Foundation. In 2021, Pat published an essay in the journal “Rhode Island History” about workers organizing against racial discrimination in the workplace in Providence during WW2 and in 2022 published a book titled The Battle of the Gravestones and the Saylesville Massacre of 1934 about the 1934 general textile strike. In 2024 he contributed a chapter in the book Power Lines Building a Labor–Climate Justice Movement published by The New Press and in 2025 will publish a chapter in the forthcoming journal The Climate-Labor Movement: Lessons Learned and the Promise of an Equitable and Diverse Clean Energy Economy, for the Labor and Employment Research Association.

Abbegail Reynolds

Abbegail Reynolds is a Senior Engineer at Epsilon Associates and a registered Professional Engineer (PE). She has eight years of experience permitting offshore wind projects in the US. Ms. Reynolds was a key member of the federal permitting team for the Vineyard Wind 1 project. Through that precedent-setting offshore wind project and several others, she has acquired expertise in a broad range of environmental rules, regulations, programs, and filings including Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Air Regulations, Construction and Operations Plans (COPs) for renewable energy activities on the OCS, Incidental Take Authorizations under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Title 41 of Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST-41), Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), and New Source Review (NSR), among others. Ms. Reynolds applies her chemical engineering background when interfacing closely with offshore wind developers’ Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams to craft a project description or gather inputs for permit applications. She applies her professional writing degree when preparing concise, well-organized, and persuasive permit applications and presentations. Ms. Reynolds also routinely assists offshore wind developers with preparing their bids in response to offshore wind solicitations and supports their contractor and supplier procurement processes, given her strong grasp of the offshore wind construction process, federal permitting process, and key environmental issues. Ms. Reynolds coauthored the report, Assessment of Federal Offshore Wind Permitting and Environmental Review Processes, released in September 2025, which provides a detailed assessment of the rigorous leasing and federal permitting processes for US offshore wind projects.
