Start

By default, any information used with a generative AI program could become part of its future training data.

This includes any written prompts, images or other types of data.

Your data.

This means that if you enter any personal or sensitive information into a generative AI program it can be stored by the company that owns the programme.

The company can then use your data, without your knowledge, to improve its product and services.
Collecting your data

You’d need to trust that they wouldn’t use it inappropriately.

If you gave it your name, address and other details, that data could be collected by the company.

‘For example, you could use an AI program to write a job application.

It’s good practice not to enter any personal or sensitive data into a generative AI program.
If you wouldn't be happy sharing the information with a stranger don't share it with an AI program.

Great job!

You've learned how to protect your personal information when using generative AI.
