A functional computer will be needed, although temptation to use a tablet or smart phone may be imminent. The ability to access emails or the student portal through them, may cause difficulty. Renal Academia is cloud based so connection is wireless allowing quick connection leading to content, learning videos, and emails. High speed internet is best, however if your Internet speed is slow, you can always close out extra browsers or connect from an alternate site ie: School, work sites, public libraries, or private establishments such as a library or a coffee spot which often have wireless internet for their guests. It is also advised that video conference software, such as Zoom or WebX are downloaded. They are free and take only seconds to install. You'll also need a microphone and webcam. Most new computers have them built in, but you can also buy a webcam with a built-in microphone if you have a computer that doesn’t have one. These would be needed only for special cases, like technical support or any event that may require communication. If you need some peace and quiet while you work or struggle to find a quiet place in your house to complete your coursework, use noise-cancelling headphones to maintain focus on your studies.
