ETHICAL AI

MODULE ONE

Beepo: I see kids playing football. Should I think everyone must love playing football?? Kid: No, Beepo! People love different sports. Beep: beepo-boop processing... must learn more!

AI is like a super curious robot brain. It watches, listens, and learns from people, just like a baby! But sometimes, if we don’t teach it properly or only show it one way of doing things, it can get things wrong. That’s why it’s important to help AI learn fairly and kindly.

Ethics 101: Fairness, Honesty & Kindness

AI, just like us,should follow the same basic values we follow in school or at home. Some of the values include:
  • Fairness: A good bot doesn’t pick favorites or treat people differently because of their name, skin color, or accent.
  • Honesty: A good bot tells you the truth based on facts and not guesses or lies.
  • Kindness: A good bot helps people, doesn’t make fun of them or cause harm.

Imagine if your robot teacher only let kids with blue shirts answer questions. Or what if it gave wrong answers to kids with a Kikuyu name because it didn’t learn from enough Kikuyu voices? That wouldn’t be fair, right?

Here is a small quiz to see if you can spot a good ai from a bad one

What is Online Privacy?

Online privacy means keeping your personal stuff safe when you're using the internet.

That includes:

  • Your real name
  • Where you live
  • Your photos and videos

What you click on, watch, or search forJust like you close the curtains at home or keep your diary locked, you should protect your private info online so strangers (or even companies!) don’t use it without your permission.

Think of online privacy like wearing digital clothes...some things are meant to be covered!

What is a Data Trail?

Every time you go online to play a game, watch a video, search Google you leave tiny pieces of information behind. These pieces are called your data trail, or sometimes a digital footprint.

It’s like walking on the beach:

  • Every step you take leaves a mark
  • Someone could follow your trail
  • And it’s hard to erase completely

Your data trail might show:

  • What games you like
  • What websites you visit
  • What videos you watch on repeat
  • What you type in chats or searches

Even when you don’t post anything, apps and websites may still be collecting info about what you do. That’s why we need to be smart detectives!

Why should you protect yourself?

  • Some people or companies might try to use your info to sell you stuff
  • Others might try to steal it or pretend to be you
  • And some things, once posted, can’t be taken back

Rule of thumb: If you wouldn’t write it on a billboard, don’t post it online!
