Block Chain
What is Blockchain and how it works
Blockchain is like a magic notebook that everyone can see, but no one can erase or change.
Let’s say you trade a toy with a friend. Instead of forgetting about it later or arguing about who owns what, the trade gets written into a digital page called a block. When more trades happen, new blocks are added to the notebook. All the blocks link together to form a chain, that’s why it’s called blockchain! It's safe, fair, and makes sure no one cheats.
Blockchain is like the Village Chama Notebook
Imagine you live in a small village in Kenya where people belong to a chama (a savings group). Every time someone borrows money, contributes, or repays a loan, it's written in one big notebook. Now, here’s the twist:
Everyone Has a Copy
Every member of the chama has their own copy of the notebook. So if Wanjiku says she paid back her loan, everyone else can check their copy to confirm. No one can sneak in and change the numbers behind your back!
The Pages Are Chained Together
Each page of the chama notebook is a block. Once it's full, it’s locked and a new page is added but every page is linked to the one before it, like a chain. If you try to tamper with one, the whole chain breaks. That chain of pages? That’s blockchain.
No Chief, No Drama
There’s no single boss. Everyone watches the notebook, and they all agree on what’s written. It's trust by teamwork, not power.
So in short:
Blockchain is like a digital chama notebook, where everyone can see the records, no one can change the past, and it keeps people honest without needing a chief
WHY IS BLOCKCHAIN SPECIAL?
Everyone Has a Copy
Imagine if every kid in class had the same notebook that writes itself. If Amani says, ‘I gave Nia a toy,’ everyone’s notebook writes it down at the same time. So, if someone tries to sneakily change the story, everyone else will know. No sneaky scribbles. Everyone’s watching… in a good way! This means: Blockchain is transparent. Everyone can see what’s written.
No Erasing Allowed!
You know how some people use liquid paper to hide their mistakes? Not here! In the blockchain, once something is written, it stays there, forever.Even if you make a mistake, it gets fixed with a new note. But the old one? Still there. It’s like a memory book that never forgets This means: Blockchain is permanent. You can’t delete the past.
No Boss, No Bully
In regular systems, there’s usually a Big Boss who controls everything. But in blockchain? Nah!It’s like a group project where everyone shares power. No one gets to be the boss of the truth. It’s fair. It’s equal. It’s teamwork! This means: Blockchain is decentralized. It’s not run by one person or place.
