Magnet-Powered Sculpture
Instructions
- Create a Base + Structure: Glue a vertical stand on your base.
- Attach Pendulum or Spinner: Suspend it from the top using string.
- Add Magnets Around It: Arrange magnets near the swing path so they push/pull the object.
- Observe Movement: As the pendulum moves, magnetic forces interact and create surprising motion!
Materials
- Strong magnets (neodymium works great)
- Suspended lightweight object (like a paper shape)
- Thin metal wire or foil
- Wooden or foam base
- Optional: pendulum made from string + washer

Instructions
- Sketch Your Design: Think Calder-style abstract shapes or nature-inspired forms.
- Cut Shapes: Cut out your chosen shapes (e.g., leaves, animals, geometric forms).
- Create Arms: Use wire to make arms, balancing a shape on each side.
- Balance Test: Make sure each wire arm balances before attaching it to another.
- Assemble Mobile: Keep attaching more layers, using string/wire to hang them off each other.
- Hang It Up: Suspend from the ceiling or a stick. Watch it dance with air!
Materials
- Stiff wire (like coat hanger wire or floral wire)
- Lightweight materials (paper, plastic, cork, aluminum foil, old soda cans) String or fishing line
- Scissors or wire cutters
- A hook or stick for hanging

- Wire It Up: Connect battery to motor using wires and tape.
- Test It: Turn on the motor and watch it move!
- Tweak It: Adjust weight, balance, and materials to change movement effects.
Materials
- Small DC motor (recycled from old toys)
- Battery pack (AA or coin battery)
- Wires & electrical tape
- Cardboard, sticks, or straws for arms
- Glue gun
