After the sale of only 25% of the club, many fans were left upset because they wanted a full sale. Protests continued before and during matches, with #GlazersOut flags being spotted in and around the stadium during most home games.

Glazer family and Manchester United debt rose to £700 million as they continued taking out dividends. In March 2010, fans staged massive protests with banners and flags filling the entire stadium. In response to the debt, the Red Knights group formed and aimed to buy the club to return it back to the fans.

Before a match against Liverpool F.C. in 2022, Manchester United fans staged a protest in response to a string of poor results in the Premier League, as well as being uncompetitive in Europe. This continued the push for attempting to drive Manchester United ownership out of the Glazer family's hands.
