What does 'blended learning' mean?
© BLCC 2025
Let's define blended learning:
Blended learning is ... ✅ a structured combination of live training + online learning ✅ an approach that works with different learning preferences ✅ a method that promotes application, interaction, and self-direction
Blended learning is not: ❌ random online/offline elements without any link between them ❌ e-learning activities in class ❌ a knowledge dump without engagement or application

Five top tips for effective e-coaching
✅ Start from day 1: make your role as e-coach explicit: “You’ll work independently online, but I’ll be there as your coach — checking in, helping, and guiding.” ✅ Use your voice: send a quick voice message. It adds a personal touch. ✅ Keep it regular but light: one or two touchpoints per week is often enough. ✅ Use platform insights: low activity or low scores? Ask: “I noticed you started Module 2 but didn’t finish — did anything get in the way?” ✅ Be human, not perfect: trainees connect more with authentic encouragement than formal check-ins.

Smart coaching messages
💬 Effective e-coaching is short, specific, and motivating Think in 3 parts: 1. Acknowledge 💯 2. Encourage or offer help 🫶 3. Invite action or follow-up ✅
© BLCC 2025
Message templates
✅ Format 1: celebrate + connect “Well done for finishing Module 3! 👏 In our next session, we’ll use some of those phrases in a role-play. Get ready!” ✅ Format 2: support + suggest “I noticed you had some trouble with the listening task. Would you like me to share a slower version of the audio?” ✅ Format 3: nudge + encourage “I haven’t seen much activity lately. Totally fine to start small — how about completing the first video in Module 1?”

Tips & tricks for coaching messages
- Use friendly emojis to keep it light and approachable 😄 (but don't overdo it 🤪)
- Add links to specific platform tasks if available
- Reuse your best phrases: create a “go-to message” file
- Don’t forget group messages: e.g., a weekly challenge, tip, or shout-out
