Our endowed investments reached $20.7 million in total assets, further solidifying our financial foundation. Undoubtedly, one of the most exciting developments of the year was the launch of our fundraising campaign, “Stronger Together: Building a Better Community.” This initiative aims to raise $1.5 million for unrestricted endowment funds, supported by a generous $3 million grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc. Dear Friends of the Hendricks County Community Foundation,

In 2024, we:
  • Awarded over $200,000 in unrestricted grants to make Hendrics County better, like the grant to help launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in partnership with all six public libraries. Because of this initiative, thousands of local children now receive a free, age-appropriate book each month, igniting a lifelong love of reading.
  • Strengthened civic engagement through our Community Unity efforts, including distributing Voter Guides to every household in the county, hosting Meet the Candidates Forums, and expanding voter education resources. We also produced a Diversity Awareness Series to encourage meaningful public dialogue.
  • Completed a transformational $6.6 million investment in local nonprofits, concluding a three-year partnership with the Hendricks County Commissioners and Council to help distribute American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to organizations and improving lives across our community.

2024 was a transformative year for HCCF – one defined by historic milestones, unprecedented generosity, and deepened community impact. Thanks to our donors and partners, we awarded nearly $2.2 million in grants, received our largest single gift ever – a remarkable $6.5 million anonymous donation, and expanded our role as a catalyst for positive change in Hendricks County. As we reflect on the past year, we are proud to share the made possible through collaborativepartnerships, visionary donors, and our steadfast commitment to building a stronger community.

These milestones underscore the power of philanthropy in action – real people making a real difference. With total revenue surpassing $12.5 million and endowed investments growing to $30.8 million, HCCF is stronger than ever and positioned to serve our community for generations to come. At the heart of this work is our Stronger Together: Building a Better Community campaign. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we’ve already reached 45% of our $1.5 million goal – unlocking significant matching funds from Lilly Endowment. But time is running out. This unprecedented $3-to-$1 match opportunity ends in December 2025, and we need your help to maximize its impact. TEAMING UP

TO HELP

FAMILIES

LOCAL BUSINESS & HCCF TEAM UP TO HELP FAMILIES

At HCCF, we know that when businesses invest in their communities, everyone wins. In 2024, we were honored to partner with Electric Plus to establish the Electric Plus Cares Fund, helping the company and its employees expand their commitment to giving back. Electric Plus, an employee-owned commercial electrical contractor founded in Hendricks County, has long supported families in need through its Electric Plus Cares initiative. Each holiday season, employees come together to purchase essential items and restaurant gift cards, offering relief to families in need while also supporting local businesses. The company also contributes to organizations such as Project Angel and Family Promise. Looking to grow the program and offer tax benefits to employees who give—many through payroll deductions—Electric Plus turned to HCCF to create a lasting solution. In October, the Electric Plus Cares Fund was launched, fueled by employee contributions and matched 100% by the company. By the end of 2024, the fund had distributed nearly $60,000 in grants, supporting families in Hendricks County, Lafayette, and Bloomington— communities where Electric Plus operates.

HENDRICKS COUNTY

CELEBRATING

TWO CENTURIES OF

Attendees at Bicentennial Kick Off event

2024 was Hendricks County’s Bicentennial Year and the Community Foundation was front and center in the celebrations joining with the other lead sponsors: Visit Hendricks County and the Hendricks County Commissioners and Council. HCCF made two $20,000 grants to support Bicentennial programming, one from the Opportunity Fund and one from the GIFT VII Implementation Fund as community unity grants. Themed events took place in every corner of the county and included signature events like the Hendricks County Rib-Fest and BBQ and the Hendricks County Fair. Cookies and cakes were made, signs were displayed, crafts were created; all to celebrate the special occasion. The Bicentennial Closing Celebration was held on January 24, 2025 at Hendricks Live! The event included performances from the Hendricks Symphonic Society, Hendricks Civic Theater and Levi Riggs. On behalf of the Bicentennial Steering Committee, Visit Hendricks County and the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County announced the Bicentennial Legacy Project: The Hendricks County Bicentennial Tree Trail at W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park. Construction will begin in 2025 and when complete, the trail will showcase nearly 100 tree species, all native to Indiana with signage identifying each tree species.

INCREASING CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Pictured: Meet the Candidates Forum

CIVIC

INCREASING

ENGAGEMENT

Increased civic engagement is a core tenet of our Community Unity programming, and 2024 focused heavily on our State and Federal elections. We are grateful for our partners at The Republican Newspaper who have supported this work of providing high quality, accurate information to make sure Hendricks County has the most educated electorate in the State. For both the Primary and the General election, we hosted Meet the Candidate Forums allowing members of the public to meet, face-to-face, those running for office. Each candidate was available at their booths to meet and answer questions from attendees and then was given time from the stage to answer predetermined questions and give their stump speech. Additionally, we partnered with The Republican Newspaper to send every household in the county the Hendricks County Voter Guide for both the Primaries and the General Election. The Voter Guides had important information about voting and interviews with every candidate on the ballot.

HCCF continued our support of the VoteHC.org website which provided up-to-date information on the elections, housed our voter education video series, and an online version of the Voter Guide. And finally, we printed banners for Hendricks County high schools to encourage new voters to “Register to Vote.” No matter how Hendricks County votes, it’s important to understand how elections work, who you are voting for, and to make your voice heard. TEAMING UP

HCCF FUNDS BRING

THE IMAGINATION LIBRARY

TO HENDRICKS COUNTY

COUNTY

In 2024, HCCF’s Legacy Funds awarded a $25,000 grant to the Imagination Library of Hendricks County Fund to help launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Hendricks County. This program provides a free, new book every month to all enrolled children ages 0 – 5 in our community, delivered right to their door. For more information and to register your child for the Imagination Library, contact Denise Robinson at 317- 852-3167, ext. 100 or visit imaginationlibrary.com/usa/ affiliate/INHENDRICKS. As the program’s fiscal sponsor, HCCF is partnering with all the libraries in the county to manage the finances of the Imagination Library. This effort is bolstered by a $6 million state allocation from Indiana’s Next Level Agenda, which matches local contributions. Additional funding came from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and the Brownsburg Library, creating a unified approach to enhance early literacy. Please consider donating to the Imagination Library of Hendricks County Fund so that all young children in our community can continue to enjoy free books. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a global program, has gifted over 250 million books worldwide, mailing over 3 million books monthly.

The program, funded by The Dollywood Foundation and local partners, aims to inspire a lifelong love of reading. Research consistently demonstrates the positive impact of early access to books on childhood development and literacy. HCCF’s ability to award this significant grant is made possible by generous donors who give to unrestricted funds like our Family Legacy Funds. These flexible funds empower HCCF to make impactful grants like this one, which will improve the education and reading skills of thousands of children in our community. Right now through the Stronger Together Campaign, any gift made to a Family Legacy Fund or unrestricted fund at HCCF will be matched $3 to $1, quadrupling the gift and the impact! Contact William Rhodehamel at william@hendrickscountycf.org for more information on how you can make a difference by starting a Family Legacy Fund.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with the State as well as our fiscal partner, the Hendricks County Community Foundation to bring the Imagination Library here. With the help of our partners, we’ll be able to reach over 9,000 children throughout the county and encourage them to read together with their families.”

Director of the Brownsburg Public Library
