Bee My Friend

Engaging children and youth in designing the logo and poster for our project is more than just a creative task—it's a way to empower them and instill a sense of ownership. Through initial class voting and final selections via Google Forms, every voice matters. These designs become more than visuals; they embody the spirit of our collective efforts.

It's inspiring to see young minds so invested in shaping the identity of our project, reinforcing the value of collaboration and democratic decision-making from an early age.

🎨 The Importance of Logos, Posters, and Democratic Contests 🐝🌍

✅ Logos: A logo is more than just a symbol—it represents the heart and mission of the project. When students, teachers, and families see the logo, they instantly recognize the project’s values, its goals, and the spirit of collaboration. Creating a logo together fosters a sense of belonging and identity, while also allowing students to showcase their creativity.

✅ Posters: Posters are an excellent way to communicate visually and attract attention to key messages. Whether displayed in school hallways, shared online, or used in project events, posters help raise awareness and promote the project to a larger audience, inspiring others to get involved.

✅ Democratic Contests: Hosting democratic contests for creating the logo or poster allows students to take ownership of the project in a meaningful way. It teaches them about voting, fairness, and the power of collective decision-making. When students participate in these contests, they feel their opinions matter and see the real-world impact of their contributions.

Through these activities, we are not just creating beautiful designs—we are fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and active citizenship. Everyone’s voice counts, and together, we make the project stronger and more impactful.

Let’s keep buzzing together and make every design and vote count! 💛🐝🎨

ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

🐝 Bee My Friend - February Highlights 🌼

February was full of creativity, awareness, and collaboration in our Bee My Friend project! Here's what we did this month: 🐝💛

1.🎭 Bee Masks Activities

Our students had fun designing and wearing colorful bee masks to celebrate friendship, teamwork, and the importance of bees in nature! We also had a joyful online meeting with our partner schools to share and present our bee masks—a buzzing moment of connection and fun!

📅 First Common Activity: Internet Safety Calendar

Together with our partner schools, we created a collaborative Internet Safety Calendar, filled with useful tips for every day of the month. A creative way to promote safe and positive use of technology.
First Activity: Creating a Calendar

Our first common activity is to create a calendar. Each participant will choose one of the 10 principles of non-hostile communication and add two additional rules on internet safety. This collaborative effort will help our students understand the importance of respectful communication and staying safe online. As we have 13 partners and only 12 months, the remaining partner can design the cover page and the back page of the calendar. The cover page can introduce the theme of non-hostile communication and internet safety, while the back page can include a summary or concluding message. Let's get creative and make this a fun and educational project for everyone!

Second common activity: letters that make up the title of the project written with natural elements

Our second common activity is to write the project title using natural elements. Each partner will be assigned a letter from the phrase "BEE MY FRIEND!" Please create your letter using materials such as sticks, leaves, pebbles, etc. Once all the letters are created, we will assemble them together to form the full title.

Bookmarks

🐝❤️ Creative Bookmark Workshop! 📚🌍

During the third meeting between students, my students participated in the third international meeting with our partner school, following a fantastic tutorial by teacher Sule and her students! 👩‍🏫✨ They guided us step by step in creating a beautiful bee and heart bookmark. 🐝📖 With scissors, glue, and colorful paper in hand, our students carefully followed the instructions in English, cutting, gluing, and assembling their bookmarks with enthusiasm. It was a great opportunity to practice listening skills, improve understanding of directions, and
unleash creativity! 🎨✂️ At the end of the activity, everyone proudly showed their completed bookmarks, each one unique and full of personality. A big thank you to teacher Sule and her students for this.

Third Activity: Collaborative Coloring Project

For our third common activity, we will create a large collaborative drawing. The black-and-white drawing has been divided into 16 parts. Each teacher will have their students color one piece of the puzzle. Once all the pieces are colored, we will assemble them to reveal the large, colorful drawing. Please note that the puzzle pages start from number 2, as page 1 contains the complete drawing and instructions. The assigned pages do not include page 1. When printing the page from the PDF for your students to color, please ensure you print the page number that has been assigned to you. Let's work together to bring this artwork to life!

Fourth common activity: story written by children with StoryJumper

For our fourth common activity, each class will write a chapter of an invented story and create the accompanying illustrations. We will use StoryJumper to compile all the chapters and drawings into one cohesive book. The work will be coordinated by teacher Gulsah Bora. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to unleash their creativity and work together on a shared narrative. Let's make an amazing story together!

ACTIVITIES OF THE MONTH OF APRIL

April was a month full of meaningful actions, creativity, and environmental awareness in our Bee My Friend project! Here's what we explored together: 🌸🐝

🎨 Bees Made with Salt Dough or Similar Materials

Our students used salt dough and other modeling materials to create lovely little bees—developing fine motor skills while learning more about these amazing pollinators.

🌍 Earth Day – April 22

We celebrated Earth Day with reflections, drawings, and actions to protect our planet. The bees, once again, reminded us how crucial every little creature is in maintaining ecological balance.

♻️ Making the Bee with Recycled Materials

To raise awareness about sustainability, children created bees using recycled materials—transforming bottle caps, cardboard, and plastic into symbols of care for the environment.

🐝 Meeting with the Beekeeper

☁️ Fifth Common Activity: Our Civic Actions – Word Cloud with Mentimeter

A special highlight this month was our online meeting with a real beekeeper! Students asked questions and discovered fascinating facts about the world of bees, their habits, and how we can help protect them.
All partner schools participated in the fifth common activity by creating a Word Cloud using Mentimeter. Each class contributed words and actions to express what it means to be active, responsible citizens—proving that even young learners can make a difference!

Fifth common activity: Our Civic Actions - Word Cloud with Mentimeter

🌍🐝 "Commitment to the Earth" on Mentimeter 🌍🐝
👥 Participants: All project classes ⏳ Duration: the meeting between students will last 1 hour. 🔹 How it works: Each class chooses 3 commitments to protect bees and nature. They enter their commitments on Mentimeter during the live session. A word cloud or list is generated in real-time, showing the collective effort of all children. Together, they read the final commitment aloud as a shared promise to help the planet. 🎁 Final Outcome: A screenshot of the Mentimeter as a visual pledge
Our Earth Day Commitment
We, the children of the world, promise to take care of the Earth and the bees that help it grow. 🌸 We will plant flowers and trees that attract bees and help them thrive. 🚫 We will avoid using harmful chemicals and pesticides that hurt nature. 💧 We will save water and reduce waste to protect our planet. 🌍 We will respect all living things, big and small, and make our world a better place. Together, we make this promise to the Earth and to the future.

World Bee Day - May 20th

🐝🌼 World Bee Day – Learning from Nature! 🌍🌿
Today, in honor of World Bee Day, my class and I spent time in our school garden, closely observing the flight of bees as they moved from flower to flower. 🐝✨ It was an incredible experience to watch these tiny but powerful pollinators at work, contributing to our ecosystem in such an essential way! Through direct observation, we deepened our understanding of their role in nature and reinforced the importance of protecting them. 🌸💛 A small moment, but a big lesson for all of us! 🌿🌞 #WorldBeeDay #BeeFriendly #LearningFromNature #OutdoorEducation #eTwinning

Sixth common activity: song

For our sixth common activity, all the children will come together to sing a song. Each class will learn the same song, and we will record our students singing their parts. We will then combine these recordings to create a unified performance. This activity will be a wonderful way to foster a sense of unity and joy among our students. Let's make beautiful music together!

🎵 Bee My Friend 🎵
(Verse 1) Buzzing softly in the air, Golden stripes, without a care. Flying high from flower to tree, Bringing life so wild and free. (Chorus) Bee my friend, let’s spread the light, Dancing through the day and night. Pollinate the world so grand, Hand in hand, we'll take a stand. (Verse 2) Through the meadow past the stream, In the sun we weave a dream. Tiny wings that work so hard, Nature's tiny loyal guard.
(Chorus – Repeat) Bee my friend, let’s spread the light, Dancing through the day and night. Pollinate the world so grand, Hand in hand, we'll take a stand. (Bridge) No sting can break this bond we made, In fields of green where memories fade. Together sweet honey we'll find, Leaving all our fears behind! (Final Chorus – with more energy! 🎶)* Bee my friend, let’s spread the light, Dancing through the day and night. Pollinate the world so grand, Hand in hand, we'll take a stand.
