Harworth Group Plc is bringing forward proposals for a mixed-use residential development that will support sustainable growth for Crewe. The site, strategically located east of Middlewich Road, will deliver a boost to economic activity and create new green open space for residents to enjoy.
The proposals include up to 660 new homes, with 30% affordable, to meet growing local demand, later living accommodation, a mobility hub and a vibrant local centre.
We invite residents, stakeholders, and community leaders to explore the project details and contribute their views to the public consultation process that will shape the urban extension.
The plans are at a formative stage and will form part of an outline planning application that will be submitted to Cheshire East Council in due course.

Sustainable Environmental Initiatives An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Report has recently been submitted to Cheshire East Council, which will help to ensure that each development stage is underpinned by robust environmental research. The project will deliver a minimum 10 percent biodiversity net gain and extensive ecological surveys and environmental monitoring will be at the heart of the process.

Together, these elements contribute to a sustainable development that respects its surroundings and is thoughtfully designed to harmonise with the existing landscape and community character.

Why are you proposing more homes in Crewe?
Crewe is the borough’s largest town and a key economic hub, making it ideally placed to accommodate sustainable growth. It benefits from excellent transport connectivity, local services, and employment opportunities, positioning it to support wider regeneration across the region.
To meet housing needs and government targets, including the national ambition to deliver 1.5 million homes over the next five years, more homes are needed in areas like Crewe that have the infrastructure to grow.

Harworth Group Plc is bringing forward proposals for a mixed-use residential development that will support sustainable growth for Crewe. The site, strategically located east of Middlewich Road, will deliver a boost to economic activity and create new green open space for residents to enjoy. The proposals include up to 660 new homes, with 30% affordable, to meet growing local demand, later living accommodation, a mobility hub and a vibrant local centre. We invite residents, stakeholders, and community leaders to explore the project details and contribute their views to the public consultation process that will shape the urban extension. The plans are at a formative stage and will form part of an outline planning application that will be submitted to Cheshire East Council in due course.

The project will deliver a minimum 10 percent biodiversity net gain and extensive ecological surveys and environmental monitoring will be at the heart of the process.

Together, these elements contribute to a sustainable development that respects its surroundings and is thoughtfully designed to harmonise with the existing landscape and community character.

Why are you proposing more homes in Crewe?
Crewe is the borough’s largest town and a key economic hub, making it ideally placed to accommodate sustainable growth. It benefits from excellent transport connectivity, local services, and employment opportunities, positioning it to support wider regeneration across the region. To meet housing needs and government targets, including the national ambition to deliver 1.5 million homes over the next five years, more homes are needed in areas like Crewe that have the infrastructure to grow.
