Have you ever wondered how many different types of media we use every day? From online videos to old-fashioned (1)________, there’s something for everyone. Last weekend, our class went on a school trip to the city (2)________ of Media and Communication. We learned how a (3)________ is written and printed, how (4)________ are chosen, and how stories are reported live on TV. In one activity, we got to write our own (5)________ — and I wrote mine about a famous (6)________ happening downtown! At another station, we saw how a (7)________ works. We took turns reading the (8)________, sports updates, and even the (9)________! Some of us were better at it than others, but it was fun for all. In the TV studio room, we had a go at acting in different shows. Mia was the host of a fake (10)________, where she interviewed Alex about his “new book.” Then Tom starred in a dramatic scene from a (11)________, while the rest of us were contestants in a funny (12)________. We even watched clips from a (13)________ where people competed to be the next great singer. On a virtual (14)________, we shared reviews and ideas with other visitors about our favorite shows and films. It felt like a mix of social media and blog writing. I even wrote a short (15)________ about the trip that was published on the museum’s website! In the evening, we went to a real (16)________ to watch a live (17)________ performance. The singers were amazing, and the live (18)________ added so much power to the experience. The music, the costumes, and the large (19)________ created an unforgettable show. Later that night, we watched two new films at a local (20)________, part of a small student film festival. The perfect end to a day full of media magic.

The first act was a classical (6)________, dancing to music from “Swan Lake.” The (7)________ clapped loudly at the end of the performance. Next came a (8)________ with five members playing popular rock songs. Their lead (9)________ wrote the lyrics himself — a very talented (10)________! They really knew how to give a (11)________ that made everyone get up and dance. After a short break, a local theatre group performed a short (12)________ about friendship and change. One of the main characters was a young (13)________, who shared a moving (14)________ about nature and childhood. The lines were written by a well-known (15)________ whose work we had studied in English class. There was also a performance by a (16)________ who amazed us with his flips and jumps. Nobody could believe how easily he moved across the stage — a true (17)________! Later that night, we were taken to a nearby (18)________ to watch a classic French film. The (19)________ was a romantic story based on a book by a famous (20)________. It was a night we’ll never forget — full of variety, talent, and joy.

On Friday, my family picks a different type of film to watch together. We started this tradition because each of us enjoys something different. Last week, my little brother chose a (1)________ about a group of animals escaping from a zoo. He loves the bright colours and silly characters! This week, my mum picked a historical (2)________ about the lives of great scientists. She enjoys learning something new while watching. My dad, on the other hand, is always looking for a good laugh, so he chose a (3)________ for next time. Last time, he wanted us to watch a scary (4)________, but we all voted no! I love anything with music and dancing, so I suggested a (5)________ set in New York. It had beautiful songs and amazing choreography. My sister prefers action, so she’s choosing an (6)________ film for our next movie night — full of treasure maps and explosions. We also plan to watch a new (7)________ film about aliens landing on Earth. My cousin, who studies film, wrote a (8)________ about it and said the special effects were incredible. Last month, we even had a themed evening with music and dancing from around the world. My aunt taught us to dance the (9)________, my uncle showed us how to move to the beat of (10)________, and my grandma surprised us with the steps to a beautiful (11)________. To finish the evening, we played music from her collection — everything from modern (12)________ to traditional (13)________ and even some slow, elegant (14)________. We ended the night with tea and cake while a recording of (15)________ played softly in the background. Film nights at our house are never boring!

How to use

The aim of these activities is to review vocabulary sets at the level of B1/B1+ especially with students preparing for the 8th grader's exam. The set contains 2 topics based on Repetytorium ósmoklasisty, Nowa Era, Culture and Health. The teacher gets two types of cloze texts that can be used as a revision during the lesson but also as the extra homework practice to reinforce students' knowledge. Each exercise can be checked by the student independently so the students can also check themselves. Teacher's notes contain all the included texts with the correct answers.
CLASS ACTIVITY - show students the text and ask them to work it out themselves. Check the activity when everybody has finished. CLASS COMPETITION - divide students into groups/pairs and give them a limited amount of time. Ask ss to work out the answers together. Finally check the answers with the students aloud and assign points for each correct answer. SMALL GROUPS - divide students into small groups of 3/4 and ask them to sit together. Tell them to read sentence by sentence each and fill in the missing infortmation. Then check together on the board.
