Our EU time capsule
2024-2025
Before starting the new edition of the project, we students had to choose the new topics. First of all, we focused on the previous ones: European inventions, sports originated in Europe, European landmarks and the most relevant social issues in Europe. We watched the final products.
Word clouds and the voting process
1. We created some word clouds with the ideas we liked. 2. Then, we got a list of 17 topics based on our word clouds.
3. We voted for the best topics.

NO YES
It is concluded that…
- European art history includes a wide range of artwork, artists, artistic styles, movements and periods from prehistoric times to the present day.
- European works of art share common features such as the depiction of historical events, mythological themes and religious stories from Christianity. There is portrait painting as well as landscape painting.
- European artists have travelled a lot throughout Europe either to study art or to gain new experiences.
EUROPEAN SPORTING EVENTS
THE Sports We Like
On TV or live in the stadium?
83% of us watch sports on TV
The REASONS WHY WE WATCH SPORTS ON TV
Because to see them live you have to pay. You also have to travel somewhere and pay for the trip. However, on TV you don't even have to pay for it, it's free, unless it's a commercial channel.
THE Sports We Like
What does this say about us?
- The most popular sport in Europe is football and, in this case, we aren't an exception.
- Tennis is very popular too.
- However, some of us follow other sports as well, such as athletics, basketball, skiing, rugby, volleyball, cycling, breaking (breakdance) .
- In general, we follow sportspeople and teams representing our own country but we also know and admire sportspeople or teams from other European countries, which means that sport can help us overcome borders.

The most popular topic: European brands
This shows that most of us are brand-aware.
This can be a good thing because it means we are interested in fashion and know what is popular and like to keep up with trends. But it can also be a bad thing, because sometimes we focus too much on expensive names and not on important things like where clothes come from or how they are made because the quality can be pretty bad because at the end of the day Its the quality that matters not the brand.
Good or bad?
The Least popular topic: Sustainable fashion
Info
Why is this?
Lack of Visibility in Media & Trends: Young people are often influenced by social media, celebrities, and fast fashion ads. Sustainable fashion doesn't dominate these spaces — fast fashion brands like SHEIN or Zara do.
Perceived as "Uncool" or Restrictive: Sustainable fashion may be seen as serious, plain, or outdated compared to trendy and cheap options. Pupils might think it means giving up stylish or affordable clothing.
Lack of Awareness: Many students don’t fully understand what sustainable fashion is, or why it matters. Without strong awareness of climate impact or labor issues, the topic feels distant or unimportant.
Cost Factor: Sustainable fashion is often associated with higher prices. Young people on limited budgets may see it as unrealistic or inaccessible, making the topic feel irrelevant.
Why it's a problem that sustainable fashion is unpopular
Environmental Consequences
Fashion is one of the most polluting industries. If younger generations aren’t engaged with sustainable alternatives, the cycle of overconsumption and waste continues.
Missed Educational Opportunity:
Avoiding this topic means missing a chance to learn about ethics, environmental science, economics, and how consumer choices affect the planet.
Perpetuating Fast Fashion Norms
Popularity of other topics (like fast fashion or trendy brands) without balancing them with sustainable perspectives reinforces harmful habits.
Youth Influence
Young people are major trendsetters. If they aren’t interested in sustainability now, it’s harder to shift industry demand later..
Music
Do we like Listening to music?
OuR FAVOURITE SONGS FROM THE TASK
Based on the opinions of Polish students
What did we learn about european music?
We learned that European music is very diverse. It includes modern pop artists like Sanah, traditional children's songs like Domisie, and famous composers such as Fryderyk Chopin and Ludovico Einaudi. We also explored various countries- like Spanish songs (Devuélveme a mi chica), Italian hits (Volare), Greek music by Mikis Theodorakis and Belgian pieces by Bazart (Goud) and Paul Severs (Zeg eens meisje). Each artist or piece reflects the culture and history of their country.
