CHAPTER 2 SKILLS+ COMPETITIONS: PAST EDITIONS
Netherlands, which focuses on evaluating talent rather than disability. Skills+ was launched as a continuation of the Erasmus+ Paraskills Competition to create inclusive skills competitions for people with physical and mental disabilities.
The first edition (2016–2017) involved national competitions in Bulgaria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. The best teams advanced to the European final held in Amsterdam on 16 March 2017. The main objectives were to strengthen participants’ confidence and to raise employer awareness of the professional potential of people with disabilities.
Following the first edition, Skills+ expanded its European network to include countries such as Spain, Greec Belgium and Turkey.
Skills+ 3.0 marked a shift towards digitisation, online training platforms and stronger cooperation between VET institutions, social organisations and employers. This approach increased accessibility and strengthened cross-border collaboration.

Skills+ competitions were closely linked to vocational training programmes preparing participants for both competition and employment. Key areas included hospitality and catering, green jobs, electrician, social health care and ICT.
Training providers supported team selection, preparation, internships and follow-up training, while participants could obtain European-level certifications. Experience from past editions also showed strong potential for expansion into digital skills, entrepreneurship, creative industries, and health and care professions.

CHAPTER 3 HOW TO GET INCLUDED IN THE COMPETITIONS
AS PARTICIPANTS
To participate in the Skills+ competitions and join the project in your country, follow these steps:
- Reach out to the Skills+ National Coordinator in your country. They are responsible for organizing national-level competitions and can provide detailed information on the application process and selection criteria.
- Check the official Skills+ website ( www.skillsplus.eu ) or other partner websites to find contact information for your country's coordinator.
- List of National Coordinator at the moment (link)
- Schools, sheltered workshops, and other institutions can register participants. The participants are typically aged 18 and above and must meet any specific criteria outlined by their country’s National Coordinator.
- Competitions are team-based, typically consisting of 3 participants and a buddy (mentor/coach). After reaching out to the coordinator and confirming eligibility, you will need to complete an application form.

DURING THE COMPETITIONS
Each participant is required to work in a safe and hygienic manner, adhering to specific safety regulations in their respective branch. Participants must maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Precautions must be taken when handling Cutting, sawing, or drilling; Electricity, gas, or hot water; Hazardous waste; Lifting and carrying objects; Power tools, both manual and automatic; All accidents or dangerous situations must be reported to the jury immediately.
General Regulations Appropriate safety clothing, shoes, and goggles; No restrictive jewelry or accessories; Hearing protection, if necessary; Correct work clothes; Proper tools; Safe work methods.
CHAPTER 8 SAFETY & HYGIENE REGULATIONS
FOR EACH JOB TYPE
Catering Participants must handle food safely and avoid cross-contamination. Attention should be paid to the cleanliness of both the serving area and utensils. Cooking Participants must prioritize food safety and cleanliness. Proper kitchen attire must be worn. Precautions must be taken when using sharp utensils, hot surfaces, and handling raw ingredients. Green Jobs Participants must handle waste management. Special care should be taken when using machinery or handling recycling and renewable energy technologies. Housekeeping Participants must ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals and proper handling of electrical equipment. Special care is required when lifting heavy objects and avoiding slips on wet floors. ICT Participants must hould focus on the safe handling of wires and hardware. Correct posture and eye protection (such as blue light glasses) are recommended for extended computer use.
