Writing Outcome
You will be writing a first-person narrative from the perspective of the girl.
Teach
Drama Opportunity: Freeze Frames and Roleplay
Look at the illustrations from the Vehicle Text.
The girl shouting for help outside the palace / the girl and The Teller
Split into groups and act out the first scene, recreating it as a full performance. Choose a moment from the scene to create as a freeze frame.
Teach
While you are in freeze frame - I will tap you and ask you to explain how you feel, what you can see and what your body is doing to show this.
Guide questions: What can you see, hear and feel around you? How are you feeling about this place and what is happening? What do you notice that's going on in the scene? What does this tell you about the atmosphere and the other characters around you? What thoughts or questions do you have about what is going on? What do you wish you could say? *Repeat for the second scene.
Teach
Role On the Wall
For each scene, write as the girl (using the first-person.) On the outside of the template: write down everything the girl can see, hear and notice around her. On the inside of the template: write down the girl's feeling and thoughts during that scene.
How do the girl's feelings change between scenes? Which side of the girl do you think will be more prominent in the rest of the story?
