How did we do it?

  • Between the months of November 2023 and February 2024 we held meetings with 19 entities of the social, educational and social health sector of Villena. In these meetings, which lasted approximately 90 minutes, we reflected on mental health, our own self-care and how to prevent mental health problems.
  • The methodology used was the focus group. This is a qualitative technique used to obtain in-depth information on perceptions, opinions and attitudes of specific groups of people regarding a given topic. In this case, the groups of people covered sectors ranging from childhood and adolescence, through adulthood and later life.

The objective of these groups was to explore the opinions and experiences of the participants about mental health. Two professionals with expertise in mental health have been the conductors of the different groups; where the role consisted of facilitating the conversation and ensuring that all people participated and that their voice could be heard on the topic of mental health. From the different focus groups we have obtained valuable information that has allowed us to build a tool for mental health. The total number of participants was 293 people.
