DIGITAL PORTFOLIO
Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my digital portfolio! In this space I hope to showcase my education, skillset and some projects I have had the privilage to work on. I included some reflections on what I learnt at each stage and how it has contributed to my professional development
Education
- bsc BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
2018 - 2022UNIVERSIDAD REY JUAN CARLOS
- MSC MEDICAL IMAGING
2022-2024UNIVERSITEIT UTRECHT
Skillset
I have experience with pytorch, monai, pandas and data analysis tools. I hope to improve my programming for control applications
AI modelsANN, CNN, LSTM, RNN,VAE Latent diffusion models
OthersmySQL, XAMPP, Talend Open Studio, Xsens, Delsys
LanguagesSpanish (native) English (C2) Korean (native)
Programming languagesPython, MATLAB C++
I am interested in learning more about reinforced learning
I want to learn more about control in robotics
Currently learning dutch!
ECG SIGNAL ANALYSIS
comparison of data balancing techniques
During this project I analyzed ECG signals of atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. I explored a method to understand the underlying dynamics (deterministic or stachastic) of atrial fibrillation and I also studied different classification methods based on AI
Durin this project I compared different techniques to balance datasets including data augmentation, cost sensitive learning, and image syntehsis via latent diffusion models
SERVER FOR AUTOMATIC DRUG DOSAGE ADJUSTMENT
virtual reality for surgical planning
CURRENT PROJECT See next page!!
The pharmacology department had to manually check the patients with renal insufficiency that needed a drug dosage adjustment. This project consisted on performing an automatic check witht the hospital's database and presenting this information in a web server
During this project I designed a tool in Unity to help surgical planning using virtual reality
Bio inspired and multi- informed controllers to improve human balance
Currently I am starting my Phd at Centro de automática y robótica (CSIC). During this time I will learn about robotics and control and contribute to the understanding of human balance and it's relation with aspects such as ankle stiffness or somatosensory information. I hope to apply all the lessons I learned along the way and to grow as a researcher.

Comparison of data balancing techniques
The conclusion of this project was unexpected. Out of the tested data balancing techniques the most popular one withing the community, data synthesis turned out to be the worse performing one. One of the hypothesis to explain this could be that I did not have enough data to perform data syntehsis, This project taught me to analyze the problem and also the resources I have since every solution no matter how effective may not be viable.

server for automatic drug dosage adjustment
The creation of the web server in this project reduced the workload for the pharmacology department and enabled them to dedicate their time to more relevant tasks. This project taught me that a project does not need to have a high technical difficulty to help. It encouraged me to pay attention and have conversations with the medical professionals to understand which technical solutions could be implemented to eventually improve the quality of care for the patient.

BSC BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING topics I studied:
During this time I learned about the possible applications of engineering to medicine. Though I gained a lot of knowledge in several fields I lacked specialization in a particular topic. This is why I decided to apply for a master's degree
ECG SIGNAL ANALYSIS
I LEARNED NEW METHODS FOR SIGNAL ANALYSIS. DURING THIS PROJECT I STARTED TO GAIN INTEREST IN RESEARCH. HOWEVER, I LEARNED THE HARD WAY THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING METHODICAL AND ORGANIZED AS I COULD NOT REPLICATE SOME OF THE PROMISING RESULTS I OBTAINED WITH THE PRELIMINARY METHODS.
mSC medical imaging topics I studied:
During this time I specialized on medical imaging. This was a period of significant academic growth as I was in a higher, more challenging academic level and personal growth as I lived abroad for the first time.
The physical principles by which the main imaging modalities are formed. I studied X-ray, CT MRI and ultrasound images.
AI applied to medical imaging. The uses of AI for automatic segmentation and synthetic image generation
Image processing applied to medical images, the different techniques that are used and how they can aid clinicians
Programming in C++The use of this programming language and an example application for a medical imaging library
