Il conflitto tra Corea del Sud e Corea del Nord ha radici profonde e complesse, risalenti alla divisione della Corea dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Nel 1945, con la sconfitta del Giappone, la Corea fu liberata dal dominio giapponese e divisa in due zone di occupazione: quella sovietica a nord e quella americana a sud. Questa divisione, inizialmente temporanea, divenne definitiva nel 1948, con la creazione di due stati separati: la **Repubblica di Corea** (Corea del Sud) sotto il governo sostenuto dagli Stati Uniti, e la **Repubblica Democratica Popolare di Corea** (Corea del Nord) sotto il regime comunista di Kim Il-sung, supportato dall'Unione Sovietica. Il conflitto vero e proprio esplose nel **1950**, quando la Corea del Nord invase la Corea del Sud, dando inizio alla **Guerra di Corea**. Gli Stati Uniti intervennero a favore della Corea del Sud, mentre la Cina e l'Unione Sovietica supportarono la Corea del Nord. La guerra durò fino al **1953**, quando fu firmato un armistizio che, pur mettendo fine ai combattimenti, non risolse la divisione del paese. La **linea del fronte** rimase praticamente invariata, con la creazione di una **zona demilitarizzata (DMZ)** tra i due paesi. Dopo la guerra, entrambe le Coree hanno seguito percorsi molto diversi. La Corea del Sud è diventata una **democrazia liberale** con una economia avanzata, mentre la Corea del Nord è rimasta un regime **comunista autoritario**, con un forte culto della personalità attorno alla famiglia Kim, e un'economia chiusa e centralizzata. Nel corso degli anni, le tensioni tra i due paesi sono continuate, spesso alimentate da provocazioni militari, test di missili e armi nucleari da parte della Corea del Nord, e sanzioni internazionali. Nonostante alcuni tentativi di dialogo e negoziati, come il summit tra Kim Jong-un e Donald Trump nel 2018, la situazione rimane tesa e incerta. In sintesi, il conflitto tra Corea del Sud e Corea del Nord è radicato in una divisione ideologica, politica e militare che dura da decenni, con periodi di conflitto aperto e di relativa calma, ma senza una soluzione definitiva alla divisione del paese.
