phrasal verbs
A phrasal verb combines a normal verb with an adverb or a preposition, to create the phrasal verb. The meaning of a phrasal verb is usually unrelated to the meanings of the words that compose it, so think of a phrasal verb as an entirely new and independent word.
Examples: Bring up → Mention a topic. Come across → Find by chance Run out of → Have no more of something Give up → Quit or stop doing something Pick up → Learn or collect

An idiom is a phrase or expression whose meaning cannot be understood from the literal meaning of the words, but rather, it carries a figurative or non-literal meaning.
Examples "Break the ice" → To start a conversation in a social setting."Hit the nail on the head" → To describe something accurately or do something precisely. "The ball is in your court" → It’s your turn to take action or make a decision.
