This approach looks at technology as human actions and groups them accordingly. This grouping includes seven types of technology. Humans have used all these types of technology throughout history to modify and control their environment.

Used in converting and applying energy to power devices and systems.
Energy and Power
Used in converting materials into industrial and consumer products.
Manufacturing
Used in building structures for housing, business, transportation, and energy transmission.
Construction Technologies
Used in moving people and cargo from one place to another.
Transportation Tech
Used in processing data into information and in communicating ideas and information.
