K-Lab

The Knowledge Lab (K-lab) is a set of resources, spaces and services designed to support ESSEC Business School’s professors and students. The K-lab's pedagogical engineers, project managers, documentalists-librarians and video production experts support students and teachers and help them to create the best working conditions. They are responsible for acquiring and distributing documentary and pedagogical resources, producing video content, assisting teachers with digital tools and implementing new pedagogical devices.

LEARNING LAB

Sponsored by Samsung, this 200 m² high-tech classroom is a place for new teaching practices. It is equipped with a wall of Samsung screens, numerous Samsung Flip screens as well as its own video recording system.

The Learning Lab has ​multicams system and no fixed furniture​.

It is recommended the use with IT staff. It hosts different types of events, conferences, group work.

Equipped with 12 Bloomberg Terminals, FinLab reproduces the conditions of a trading room.

Offers access to software for creating graphic, multimedia and artistic projects. Computer stations are equipped with the Adobe suite and headphones.

Sponsored by Samsung, available to students without reservation.​ It is used as study room, group work, co-working.

MOTIVATION​ - How to motivate students?

• through learning objectives: make learning personal, connect lessons to real-world application, use diverse teaching methods, surprise students, create reflections;   

• through social context: classroom management (eg. Establish ground rules from the start),encourage participation, scenario-based learning, novelty, diversity, relationship care;​
• through performance/evaluation: combines different type of evaluations (eg. Individual andteam evaluations; formative and summative, peer assessment, self-assessment), clear criteria, providing feedback.​
