An addiction is the constant use of substances harmful to our body or the uninterrupted practice of a habit that conditions our thoughts, which lead us to fall back into error. Addictions are very common in adolescents for various reasons. There are different types of addictions, such as food, alcohol, internet or social media, and drugs.

An addiction

Drugs are substances capable of influencing the mental condition of an individual, particularly an adolescent, temporarily altering their state of consciousness. These are divided into three types: hallucinogens, stimulants and depressants and each of these categories has very specific effects but in general the damage resulting from drug use is brought to the brain areas of memory and emotions, or consists of a decrease in cognitive abilities and a destruction of brain balance. Often teenagers begin to consume these products to reduce discomfort, stress and anxiety by feeling well or to appear great and be noticed by the group, however it is very important that the adolescent is aware of the dangers of taking these substances, which can seriously damage our body. Possible remedies aimed at eliminating drug addiction are a multidisciplinary psychological therapy and the substitution of the drug with methadone once one enters in the dedicated recovery centers.
