INFINITIVES AND GERUNDS
Infinitive and gerund are grammatical constructions that combine main verbs with specific verb forms to express different meanings and nuances in English. These structures are essential for communicating: actions, intentions, and emotional states accurately.

INFINITIVE

The infinitive is the base form of the verb, often preceded by the word "to" (e.g., to eat, to sleep, to learn)
When to Use the Infinitive
• After Certain Verbs: (Some verbs require an infinitive to complete the meaning)o Agree: She agreed to help me. o Decide: They decided to leave early. o Hope: I hope to see you soon.• To indicate Purpose:o I study to pass the exam.• After Adjectives:o It’s difficult to understand this concept.

GERUND

A gerund is the "-ing" form of the verb that functions as a noun, it refers to the activity it represents.
When to Use the Gerund
• As the Subject or Complement of a Sentence: o Reading is my favorite hobby. • After Prepositions: o He’s good at drawing. • After some expressions: o This book is worth reading • After certain verbs: o Enjoy: He enjoys playing cards.
