Unsustainable waste

GENERATION

Presented by Noelia Hidalgo & Salma Martinez

Introduction

The uncontrolled increase in waste from mass consumption and industrial production is harming the environment and public health. Waste like plastics and electronics pollutes the land, water, and air, making climate change worse. The "use and throw away" habit has created more waste than the planet can handle. To fix this problem, we need solutions like recycling, reducing waste, and using a circular economy.

SUPPORT SECOND-HAND MARKETS

Use the 3 Rs to minimize waste. Avoid single-use products, and instead, look for ways to reuse items or materials.

BUY ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

Choose products with eco-friendly or biodegradable packaging. Avoid plastic whenever possible and opt for reusable bags, containers, and bottles.

DO NOT LET THINGS PILE UP

If you haven´t use something for a long time, donate or recycle it rather than letting it filling space.

BUY ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

DO NOT MIX WASTE

Always separate recyclables from regular trash. If everything is mixed, it's harder to recycle, and many materials can't be reused.

DO NOT BUY FAST FASHION

The fashion industry is a significant contributor to waste. Avoid fast fashion brands that focus on cheap, disposable clothing. Instead, opt for quality, durable, and second-hand options.

REDUCE CONSUMPTION

Buy only what you really need and avoid disposable products. This helps reduce waste and saves the resouces of the planet.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECICLE

Buy and sell used items through online platforms, or community groups. This reduces demand for new products.

DO NOT WASTE FOOD

Plan your meals, store food properly, and use leftovers to reduce waste. Wasting food also means wasting resources like water and energy.

DO NOT OVERCONSUME

Avoid impulse buying and overproduction. Be mindful of your consumption patterns and only buy what you need to reduce the generation of waste.

RECYCLE PROPERLY

Separate recyclable materials like paper, plastic, glass, and metal. Follow local recycling rules to make sure the materials can be reused.
