Castelo branco

historia

Castelo Branco, inicialmente habitada por povos pré-romanos, ganhou importância com a chegada dos romanos. No século XIII, foi tomada pelos Cavaleiros Templários, que construíram o castelo, sendo um marco importante para a cidade. A cidade se desenvolveu nos séculos XVII e XVIII, especialmente com a prosperidade da indústria têxtil e o crescimento do famoso Bordado de Castelo Branco. O Jardim do Paço Episcopal, criado neste período, é uma das maiores atrações turísticas e um exemplo do barroco português. Durante o século XIX , a cidade enfrentou dificuldades com as Invasões Francesas e as instabilidades políticas causadas pelas Guerras Liberais, mas mesmo assim, manteve-se como um ponto estratégico e importante da região. No século XX, a cidade se modernizou, melhorando sua infraestrutura e comércio, enquanto preservava suas tradições e patrimônio histórico. Hoje, Castelo Branco combina seu legado medieval com um dinamismo moderno, sendo uma cidade culturalmente rica e turística

Castelo Branco é uma cidade rica em cultura, destacando-se pelo Bordado de Castelo Branco, uma tradicional arte têxtil. A cidade também é conhecida por suas festas tradicionais, como a Festa de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, e eventos culturais como o Festival Internacional de Música. A arquitetura barroca, representada pelo Jardim do Paço Episcopal e pela Catedral de Castelo Branco, e o artesanato local, como cerâmica pintada à mão, reforçam a identidade cultural da cidade.

Leopoldo Martins Rodrigues

O atual presidente da Câmara Municipal de Castelo Branco é Leopoldo Martins Rodrigues. Ele foi eleito em 2021 pelo Partido Socialista e assumiu o cargo para o mandato de 2021 a 2025. Antes de sua eleição, Leopoldo Rodrigues já desempenhava funções na administração pública local. Durante seu mandato, tem participado ativamente de eventos e iniciativas municipais, como o Portugal Cheese Festival e o 4º Workshop sobre Redes Sociais e Inteligência Artificial para a Gestão do Risco de Catástrofes.
