NEL NOSTRO CORPO CI SONO 206 OSSA DI GRANDEZZE E DIMENSIONI DIVERSE. un osso è formato da tessuto osseo compatto e spugnoso. la differenza tra i due è che il primo rappresenta l'80% della massa ossea ed é robusto e pesante, il secondo possiede piccolissimi spazzi che lo rendono più leggero (HE è interno. l'osso è ricco di:sostanze inorganiche dette sali minerali(calcio e sali fosforo) che lo rendono rigido. di sostenze organiche come l'osseina che gli da elasticità

nell'osso sono presenti anche i vasi sanguigni, il sangue porta il nutrimento ma preleva i sali minerali richiesti da altre parti del corpo. i sali minerali devono essere continuamente rinnovati e se l'osso perde più sali minerali di quelli che acquista diventa fragile. l'asse portante dell'apparato scheletrico è la colonna vertebrale, composta da vertebre. a essa è collegato il cranio che racchiude e protegge il cervello; la mascella e la mandibola che permettono di masticare, la gabbia toracica che contiene il cuore e polmoni e il bacino.
