Four Spheres of Earth

Today, you are going to explore and learn about the 4 spheres that make up Earth's system and how those spheres interact. To explore, hover and click on a hotspot on the next slide to review the information. There will be a total of 22 hotspots for you to explore and review. One hotspot will be invisible, and you will have to find it while you are exploring. There will be 8 hotspots that contain a question that you must answer. Write your answers down on a piece of paper and turn them into me when you're finished.

Pt. 2 Earth's Spheres

Hurricanes are a powerful source of rotating air. After watching this video, answer the following question. Which spheres did you see interacting in this video?

Using your headphones, watch this video to learn more about Earth's spheres and how they connect. After watching the video, answer the following question. Which sphere covers everything like a blanket? *Remember to write your answer on a piece of paper and turn it in after reviewing all the videos.

Watch the video using your headphones and then answer the following question. Which sphere is like a skeleton? *Remember to write your answer down on a piece of paper. Turn your paper in after watching all the videos.

Sphere Interactions

Let's look at examples of how Earth's spheres interact. People (biosphere) take vacations to sandy beaches (geosphere). While at the beach, they build sandcastles (geosphere) and swim in the ocean (hydrosphere). Some people may choose to sit on the beach drinking water (hydrosphere) while looking out into the horizon (atmosphere), admiring the view. Others may choose to go fishing, hoping to catch a big fish (biosphere). Waves (hydrosphere) crash against the sandy shore (geosphere) while kids (biosphere) hunt for seashells. People breathe oxygen (atmosphere).

  • Birds (biosphere) fly in the air (atmosphere).
  • Moles (biosphere) dig tunnels in the ground (geosphere).
  • Heavy rains (hydrosphere) can cause mudslides (geosphere).
  • Bubbles (hydrosphere) float in the air (atmosphere).

Use your headphones to listen to the video. Watch the video and answer the following question. Name at least one interaction between two spheres that was mentioned in the video and specify what spheres are interacting. *Remember to write your answer down on paper and turn it in.

This is an example of how the atmosphere and hydrospheres interact.

After watching this video, what spheres can you identify in the video, and what interaction(s) is taking place?

Sphere Interaction

Review the information on this slide to gain an understanding of how Earth's spheres interact together. Write your example of interaction(s) between Earth's spheres and label the spheres involved.

This video shows interaction in multiple spheres. After watching the video, answer the following question. Which of Earth's spheres is interacting, and how are they interacting?
