Futuro contratto

È proprio dei verbi il cui tema verbale finisce in consonante liquida o nasale. In realtá si tratta comunque di un futuro sigmatico, in cui il sigma scompare in seguito ad alcuni processi fonetici. In questi casi infatti il greco, che non tollera l'incontro di liquida/nasale + σ, inserisce fra il tema verbale e la caratteristica sigmatica del futuro la vocale -ε- (anaptissi).

Il sigma, che si conserva in tutta la flessione, determina diversi fenomeni fonetici in rapporto alla vocale o alla consonante finale del tema:

Formazione del tema del futuro ATTIVO e MEDIO

Come tutti i temi temporali del verbo greco, anche il tema del futuro si forma a partire dal tema verbale. L'elemento distintivo del futuro è il suffisso temporale -σ- che si aggiunge: •direttamente al tema verbale •mediante le vocali tematiche -ε-/-ο-, alle desinenze principali. L'elemento -σε-/-σο- costituisce dunque la caratteristica del futuro attivo e medio.Il fututo attivo e medio si forma:

Generalitá sul futuro:

Il tema del futuro all'interno del sistema verbale greco non esprime alcuna idea di aspetto, ma sempre e soltanto la nozione temporale di posterioritá. Il sistema del futuro è difettivo, in quanto manca dell'imperativo e del congiuntivo. Il futuro pertanto viene usato:

Nell'infinito e nel participio (modi indefiniti).

Nell'indicativo e nell'ottativo (modi finiti).
