How does imagery set the mood in this passage?

“It tumbled down, bumping through the limbs of the bleeding tree and landing at our feet with a thud. A white veil came over its eyes, and the long white beak unhinged. Its legs were crossed, and its claw-like feet were delicately curved at rest. Even death did not mar its grace, for it lay on the earth like a broken vase of red flowers.”

The story includes the description of a Scarlet Ibis. How can a Scarlet Ibis be similar to Doodle?

Continue

Imagery - The Scarlet Ibis description and detail, such as its bright red color and its beautiful delicate features ,connect to Doodle's character and how both are fragile and vulnerable. Foreshadowing: The imagery of a broken vase of red flowers and even the death of the bird foreshadow Doodle's death. A vase can easily be damaged, once it breaks there's no use for it.Red flowers reflect remembering someone, indicating that Doodle was going to leave the narrator. The Doodle bird struggled even in its last breath, indicating Doodle is also going to have a tragic death, feeling vulnerable and struggling.
