EXCRETORY-SYSTEM
Function: Eliminating waste. The main organs involved in excretion are the kidneys and the bladder. We also eliminate waste through sweat. Through the excretory system, our body removes the waste it produces.
EXCRETORY-SYSTEM
- Blood reaches the kidneys.
- The kidney’s filters collect waste from the blood and purify it.
- The collected waste forms urine.
- Urine passes from the ureter to the bladder, where it is stored.
- When the bladder is full, we feel the urge to urinate, and urine is expelled through the urethra.
SWEAT
Sweat is mainly composed of water and contains mineral salts. The function of sweat is to cool the skin and help maintain a proper body temperature. Our skin has sweat glands that release sweat. These glands are distributed throughout the body but are more abundant in certain areas, such as the hands, armpits, and soles of the feet. Sweat is continuously expelled through pores.
