Th Vikings and English

The Vikings came from Scandinavia, (Norway, Sweden and Denmark). They travelled to the British Isles and everywhere in Europe ! They created towns in Russia (Kiev, Novgorod), Ireland (Dublin) and England (York) !
When Vikings arrived somewhere, it was very difficult to stop them, because their boats ("lang skip" = long ship) were very quick ! Vikings usually raided monasteries and churches: they wanted gold and silver (or slaves) !
The Vikings raided the British Isles and settled in different places. They created the Danelaw in the south east of England.
