There are 2 types of speech:
- Direct Speech: what someone says
“I want to buy pizza for lunch.”
- Reported/ Indirect Speech: When you tell someone what another person said.
He said he wanted to buy pizza for lunch.

To report what another person said you need to change:

Direct Speech: Ana: “I went to the cinema yesterday.” Reported Speech: She said (that) she had gone to the cinema the day before.
1. Use a reporting verb: say,tell,ask....
2. Change the pronoun: I she
3. Change the verb tense: went had gone
4. Change the time reference: yesterday the day before

5. You can ommit “that” after the verbs say and tell
