characteristics of cubism
- Cubism represents reality through geometric figures producing a disruptive and fragmented visual effect.- It uses grays, greens, and browns, setting aside the typical colors of Impressionism - Cubism places objects on a single plane, rejecting the real appearance of things and their depth. - Figures are compartmentalized into cubes and prisms, ensuring that the compositions can be seen from all points of view simultaneously - Cubists continued to seek inspiration from references from the past: landscapes, portraits, still lifes
From 1895 to 1900, he lived in Barcelona, studied in Llotja, and was associated with Els Quatre Gats. He moved to Madrid and settled in France in 1904. He studied with Guillaume Apollinaire, Max Jacob, and André Salmon, and his figurative works evolved from ibérica escultura and African art. Picasso, during the war, returned to figuration and developed a "classical" style of painting with monumental figures, reflecting a generalized return to order in Europe after the avant-garde ebullition. In the late 20th century, surrealist environments distorted characters and themes, and he participated in the 1925 surrealist exhibition.
