Lily Kong is Singapore Management University’s fifth President and the first Singaporean woman to head a university in Singapore. Professor Kong is internationally known for her research on urban transformations in Asian cities, with particular focus on social and cultural change. She has written extensively about communal relations, particularly, the intersection of religion and secularity in cities, creative industries/cities, urban heritage conservation, and smart cities. She is an award-winning researcher and teacher locally and internationally. Professor Kong was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2006 and the Public Service Star in 2020. In July 2022, she was appointed Chair of the newly formed ‘Knowledge Council on Urban Resilience’ at the World Cities Summit.

Dr Cathy Oke OAM is Associate Professor in Informed Cities in the Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning and Director of the Melbourne Centre for Cities at the University of Melbourne. She is senior advisor to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy on research and innovation. Since 2021, she has co-hosted the ClimateTalks podcast covering the United Nations Climate Conferences. Her twelve years as a Melbourne City Councillor (2008-2020) and contributions to local government and the environment were recognized with an Order of Australia Medal in 2023. She is a Lead Author for Chapter 1 for the IPCC AR7 Special Report on Climate Change and Cities.

Hakim Ouansafi is the Executive Director of the Hawai‘i Public Housing Authority (HPHA), one of the largest housing authorities in the nation, overseeing billions of dollars in federal and state housing assets and programs. Professor Orlando Woods
Orlando Woods is Professor of Geography and Director of the Urban Institute at Singapore Management University. His interdisciplinary research agenda explores the socio-cultural and techno-political drivers of urban development, and coalesces around questions concerning multiculturalism and superdiversity, smart cities and digital infrastructures, and practices of environmental and technocratic governance. Empirically his work spans South and Southeast Asia, and focuses on Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Orlando holds BA and PhD degrees from University College London and the National University of Singapore respectively.

Since January 2013, Thomas Madreiter is Director of Planning of the City of Vienna. After holding various positions at the Vienna University of Technology and in the City of Vienna, he was previously Head of the Department of Urban Development and Planning at the Vienna City Administration from 2005 to January 2013. In 2011, he headed the establishment of a new department for energy planning. He has coordinated Smart City Wien since 2010. He has been a corresponding member of the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning (DASL) since mid-2019.
