- Mary was born in 1797 in London, England.
- Her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, was a philosopher and one of the pioneers of feminism.
- Her father was William Godwin, a philosopher and writer.
- However, Mary's mother died ten days after her birth.
Her childhood
- Mary loved to spend time in the cemetery. In fact, she learned to read by reading her mother's name on her grave.
- Since Mary was a child, she wanted to write inspired by her parents. She says that her favorite hobby was "writing stories."
However, she was imitating others' style, trying to create her own.
