SDS must contain statement of policies on land use which are of strategic importance, including quantum and distribution of housing (including affordable), but should not allocate sites. SDS should consider its effects on health, health inequality and sustainable development.
Review/replace
Local plans should be in general conformity with the SDS
Monitoring
Combined authority, combined county authority, upper-tier county and unitary authorities are ‘principal authorities’ and will be strategic planning authorities.
