HARRIET TUBMAN
Araminta Ross was born in a plantation, in Dorchester County, Maryland. She was an African-American. She escaped from her masters and changed her name to Harriet Tubman. She worked as a cook and a nurse. She is famous for freeing and guiding enslaved people to freedom (700 slaves). She fought for freedom and for the end of slavery. She was the first woman to lead an military expedition in the world. When she died in 1913, she was buried with military honors at Fort Aill Cemetery in Auburn, in New York. Her name was given to schools building, museums and other places .

She was an African American entrepreneur.She created hair products to help Black women who didn’t like their hair. She fought for the advancement of Black Americans and the end of lynching. She was the first Black woman to become a millionaire.

She was of Native American and African American descent. She was a pilot and a flight instructor for Black and White women. She had an exceptional career, and fought her entire life for the civil rights of African-Americans. She is exceptional because she was the first Black woman to be pilot. She is the first woman to have received a pilot license in Paris .

Mary Kenner was an American inventor. She was born in Monroe North Carolina. She was famous because she invented the first adjustable sanitary pad. She received five patents. She has the record for the most patents awarded to a Black woman by the U.S. Her first patent was in 1957 for the sanitary belt.

Josephine was a famous American dancer and singer. She was famous because she sang in French at the Folies-Bergère in Paris and for her costumes. She was very important because she was part of the French resistance as a spy during World War II.

She was born in Alabama, Tuskegee. She was a civil rights activist. Her nickname was : “The mother of the civils rights”. She fought for equality between black and white people. She’s exceptionnal: she was arrested because she refused to give her seat to a white man in a bus. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 1999

Katherine Johnson was an African-American woman, she worked as mathematician and physician at NASA. She contributed to Apollo 11’s trajectory, and helped the first Moon landing in 1969.She won the congressional Gold Medal. She was the only African-American woman who worked with white men at the time.

Michelle Obama was born in Chicago and she is a lawyer. She was the first African American first lady of the USA. She served as a role model for women and worked as an advocate for porverty awareness, education, nutrition, physical activity and healthy eating. She received two Grammy awards: in 2019, she was rewarded best Spoken Word Album, in 2023 she was rewarded the Best audio Book, Narration & storytilling Recording. The same year in Primetime Emmy Awards she was awarded the Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Serie or Special.
