We use ‘will’ and ‘won’t’ to predict what we think or believe about the future, so we often begin with ‘I think’ Some examples: I think robots will drive cars. My teacher won’t be a robot.

Examples: Predictions for the year 2050.

  • In the year 2050, we'll have flying cars.
  • In the year 2050, people will live until they are 100 years old.
  • In the year 2050, everyone will speak at least three languages.

Positive sentences

- We add will after the subject and before the main verb - It's common to use the short forms: 'll

Examples: Predictions for the year 2050.

  • We will not drive normal cars. = We won't drive normal cars.
  • Children will not go to school in the future. = Children won't go to school in the future.

Negative sentences

- We add won't after the subject and before the main verb to say something we do not think is likely to happen - We usually contract version of will + not --> won't

Examples: Thinking about next year + Will you get a promotion next year? - Yes, I think I will! + Will he travel to the U.S.A. next year? - No, he won't

Questions

- For questions we use will at the beginning of the sentence, then the subject and then the verb
