First electronic computer: ENIAC (1945). First programmable computer: Z3 (1941). First commercial computer: UNIVAC I (1951).
Why?
To automate tasks, process information, and facilitate communication and work.
Main Parts of a Computer
HARDWARE
- CPU (Central Processing Unit): The "brain" of the computer, responsible for executing instructions.
- RAM: Stores data temporarily for quick retrieval by the computer.
- Hard Drive: Stores data permanently.
- Motherboard: Connects all the computer's components.
SOFTWARE
- Operating System: Program that manages hardware resources (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Applications: Programs that perform specific tasks.
