PAST SIMPLE OF REGULAR VERBS
- We use the Past simple to talk about actions in the past that were concluded and finished there - in the past.
- In English, to conjugate a verb in the Past Simple you have to add "-ed" to the bare Infinitive of that verb.
PAST SIMPLE OF IRREGULAR VERBS No one can explain students why there are verbs in English that are regular, and other verbs that are irregular. There's no logic and no explanation. Students have to memorise the irregular verbs because they are all different. Here's one example: AFFIRMATIVE NEGATIVE INTERROGATIVE I went I didn't go Did I go? you went you didn't go Did you go? he, she, it went he, she, it didn't go Did he, she, it ? we went we didn't go Did we go? you went you didn't go Did you go? they went they didn't go Did they go?
THE IRREGULAR VERBS don't have any logic or resemblance so the only option is to memorise them. Here's a list of the most common ones:
