I would apply to be an actor, because I would love to be a world-reknown celebrity. I would apply to work in a tech company, because I love anything to do with technology and I also enjoy working with other young people.

3) Read Jeff's cover letter and explain why he applies for that job. 4) Pick out adjectives that characterises Jeff. Explain why he would be a good candidate.

Lesson 3: Working at the aquarium

A. People are attracted to work at the aquarium because of the sharks and the cozy, calm environment. B. The nature of the text 'volunteers' is that it explains the job of the volunteers and tries to convince people to apply for the job. C. Jeff applies for the job because he likes marine wildlife. He studies marine microbial communities in university and he wants to continue his research. D. Jeff is engaged, curious, organized, passionate. He has a great capacity for work and he is eager to explore.

a) Look at the film poster and read the texts. Pick out information about Emma Stone (jobs, film, award).
b) Listen to the interview. Pick out information about her story. c) Explain how these documents give a contrasting view of "becoming an actress in Hollywood".
Lesson 4: The Ultimate Dreamland
Today we discovered three documents: a movie poster, some tweets and a clip from an interview. The very famous Hollywood actress Emma Stone was the subject of these documents. In fact, Emma, despite being a world-famous actress who has earned many awards, actually had a very hard time getting to her current level. She struggled to get jobs, and spent a lot of time crying. Her mother helped her during the difficult times. She also worked normal jobs.

a) The Silicon Valley is in a hot and sunny environment, which makes it perfect for companies to install their headquarters there. b) It is an international place because people come from all over the world to work there and it is the base for many international technology companies. c) Living in the Silicon Valley is a "double-edged sword" because the rent is high, the distances are large and it can be expensive.

As a student, you have the opportunity to do an internship in a Silicon Valley company. Explain to your parents why that is a dream to you.

Lesson 9: Airbnb employee

The video is an interview. In the video, a woman interviews an employee of Airbnb. The employee says she was born in Belarus, and moved to Canada when she was very young. She then did her university studies in history at the University of Waterloo. After her graduation, she decided to do an internship at AirBnb in San Francisco. She liked it so much that she stayed at that job after the internship was complete.
