FUTURE TENSE: INTRODUCTION

In inglese esistono diversi tipi di "futuro":

  • To be going to
  • Will
  • Present Continuous (planned future)
  • Simple Present

Present Continuous. (Unit 4 vol 2 pp. 54, 140)

USO: - Programmi già decisi, piani definitivi e appuntamenti già stabilititi. es. I'm taking the train at 2 o' clock. How are you getting there Maisie? I'm taking the bus.

Future time expressions

Il Present Continuous è spesso accompagnato da espressioni di tempo futuro come:
  • TOMORROW ( I'm having an important dinner tomorrow).
  • TONIGHT. (I'm organizing a birthday party tonight).
  • THIS (afternoon/evening...) (They're going to the cinema this evening)
  • NEXT. (Monday/week/month/ year,...). (We aren't going to Rome next week.)
  • ON. (Monday/15th May, ...). (They are going to the theatre on Saturday.)
  • IN. (April/ summer/2026,....) (We are visiting Madrid in Summer).
  • AT. (2 o'clock/the weekend/Christmas,...). (We are meeting at 7 pm).

USO:1) Si vuole indicare l'intenzione di compiere un'azione Es: I'm going to buy Elizabeth a present for her B-Day. 2)Previsioni: quando si nota che qualcosa sta per accadere, IMMINENZAEs: It's cloudy: it's going to rain again.

  • FORMA AFFERMATIVA:
Sogg.+ am/is/are (anche contratta)+ going to + verbo base + Compl.
  • Es: I'm going to leave for France tomorrow.
  • FORMA NEGATIVA:
Sogg.+ am/is/are + NOT (anche contratta) + going to + verbo base + Compl. Es: I'm not going to leave for France tomorrow

  • FORMA INTERROGATIVA:
Am/Is/Are + Sogg.+ going to + verbo base + Compl. + ? Es: Are you going to leave for France tomorrow?

Es: I am going to visit my aunt tomorrow. I'm visiting my aunt tomorrow. Entrambe sono corrette e la differenza tra loro è che:La prima mette in evidenza l'intenzione, la seconda sottolineail programma predefinito, è un piano certo, sicuro.
