"I Do"
A boring presentation

Our high school curriculum is designed to develop fluent, effective writers in all genres. Within each unit, students study models of exceptional writing to imitate and learn the moves author’s make to communicate their ideas. In the "Study" portion of the lesson, students think critically about a live teacher model or a published exemplar of the skill they will be practicing.

Let’s see what the “I Do” looks like in action.

Independent Practice of

Writing

"You Do"
A boring presentation

By the end of each unit in our high school curriculum, students will complete a Culminating Task where they pull all of the writing moves and genre elements from the unit together into a cohesive piece of writing with a specific purpose.

Let’s see what the “You Do” looks like in action.

"We Do"
A boring presentation

Our high school curriculum is designed to give students immediate practice on the skill or move studied during the "Study" portion of the lesson. In the "Create" portion of the lesson, students write steadily for 10-15 minutes, applying the skill or move from the "Study." During this time, students may be working in small groups or with partners. The teacher is circulating to provide prompting and conferencing.

Let’s see what the “We Do” looks like in action.
