England vs The UK : the difference and the position

whatch the vidoe and take some notes

England is a country within the United Kingdom (UK), which is a sovereign state made up of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

England is part of the United Kingdom, and the UK decided to leave the European Union after the Brexit referendum in 2016. This decision was driven by a desire to regain full sovereignty over laws, borders, and trade policies, among other factors. Although England is geographically in Europe, its political affiliation with the EU ended when the UK officially withdrew in 2020.

The English Channel is a narrow waterway—only about 33 km wide at the Strait of Dover—that connects the UK with mainland Europe and has long been a key route for trade, cultural exchange, and defense.

  • In 1688, King James II was removed from the throne because people didn’t agree with his rule.
  • William of Orange and his wife Mary took over the throne. This event helped make England a constitutional monarchy, meaning the king or queen's power was limited by laws.
  • England was part of the Allied powers during World War I. The war caused many deaths and had a huge impact on England's economy and society.
  • The war also changed how countries interacted with each other and led to the rise of new political ideas.
  • In 2016, people in England voted to leave the European Union (EU) in a decision called Brexit.
  • This event changed England's relationship with other countries in Europe and the world.
  • This was a war between the supporters of King Charles I and those who wanted more power for Parliament.
  • Parliament won, and King Charles was executed. This led to a time without a king and changed how the government worked.
  • In 1066, William the Conqueror from France fought King Harold of England at the Battle of Hastings.
  • William won and became King of England. This changed England’s history and brought in new ideas, laws, and culture from France.
  • In 1215, King John of England was forced to sign the Magna Carta, a document that limited the power of the king.
  • This was important because it gave people more rights and helped the idea of rule by law instead of the king having all the power.
