A revolução liberal

No dia 24 de agosto de 1820, os elementeos do Sinédrio deram início à Revolução Liberal portuguesa. A população do Porto aderiu ao movimento liberal, manifestando nas ruas o seu opoio, que se alastrou a outras zonas do Norte do País. O movimento revolucionário só chegou a Lisboa um mês mais tarde, obrigando á destruição da Junta de Regência e à criação da Junta Provisional do Governo Supremo do Reino, com obetivo de governar provisoriamente até às eleições.
