WHAT IS ASIST?
ASIST is...
- A suicide intervention skills training program
- A two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid
- A framework that can be applied to youth or adults
- Having suicidal thoughts or behaviors
- Can be taught to anyone!
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
During ASIST, participants learn to:
- Recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide
- Provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person with these thoughts
- Identify and apply the key elements of effective suicide safety planning
