Watching a lecture where climate change was addressed as the world's biggest market failure has furthered my understanding of its root cause: a misallocation of resources towards prioritised economic growth. Reading "The Age of Islands" has developed my outlook on this through an example of the Maldives' visitor economy. The theoretical frameworks I study at A-level have shaped my understanding on climate consequences. Degg's model illustrates that a nation's 'vulnerability' interacts with a climate hazard to fundamentally create climate disaster. This is especially applicable to Bangladesh where its physical vulnerabilities worsen flooding which has caused economic disruption and social issues like the new migration crisis. Studying Georgraphy will allow me to further explore this war of man versus nature.
