Accentuation Rules in Spanish: There are 4 types of words according to accentuation. These rules are for the words that carries an accent mark or tilde

The stress of the word falls in the 2nd syllable counting back from the last syllable and do NOT end in –n, -s or a vowel except hiatos

The stress of the word falls in the last syllable of a word ending in –n, -s or a vowel.

Don’t panic! Learning the accentuation rules are important but this is something you will get used to with time as you build your vocabulary.All the words in Spanish carries a stress in one of their syllables but not all of them are accentuated with the accent mark or tilde and these rules will tell you which ones are
