BIOGRAPHY
Amalia Heredia was born into a prominent family in Málaga. She married Jorge Loring Oyarzábal in 1850, and together they had nine children. They transformed their home, La Concepción, into a famous botanical garden and were key figures in Málaga’s high society. Amalia was involved in philanthropic activities, supporting hospitals and founding a girls' school. She was also a founding member of the Royal Spanish Society of Natural History. In the late 19th century, the family faced financial troubles, and Amalia lost several children, including her son Manuel in a controversial duel. After becoming a widow in 1900, she died two years later and is buried in Málaga's San Miguel Cemetery.
