Maria Francisca nasceu em 1988 e cresceu entre a cidade e o campo. Sempre foi aventureira, curiosa e detesta perguntas sem resposta. Desde pequena que é apaixonada por Ciências, experiências e animais, mas também por histórias e mundos fantásticos. Num canto do seu quarto chegou a ter todo o tipo de animais improváveis: rãs e girinos, caracóis gigantes, patos, codornizes, coelhos e muitos outros, sempre com o objetivo de os investigar e percebê-los melhor. Exatamente por isso seguiu o curso de Biologia, mas quando percebeu que os verdadeiros apaixonados por experiências, perguntas e histórias eram as crianças, mudou de área e tornou-se professora do Ensino Básico, em 2011. Além de dar aulas, participa em muitas iniciativas para fomentar o interesse pela leitura, ciência e criatividade. Graças a esta coleção, O Clube dos Cientistas, foi distinguida pelo GLOBAL TEACHER PRIZE 2018, com uma Menção Honrosa pelo elevado contributo para a Educação e Sustentabilidade Social. Vários livros desta coleção fazem já parte do Plano Nacional de Leitura (PNL) e do catálogo LER+Ciência, numa parceria do PNL com a rede CIÊNCIA VIVA. Recebeu o Prémio Literário Maria Rosa Colaço 2019, de Literatura Infantil, pela obra Histórias de (En)contar de um Lobo que Não Gostava de Matemática (Ed. Fábula). Nos seus tempos livres gosta de explorar o mundo: passear, investigar mais sobre animais, ler… e, claro, escrever!
